Kasia Gospos is the Founder and Publisher of Leaders in Heels, a leading Australian online community and magazine created to nurture, inspire and empower female leaders and entrepreneurs. Kasia is not only a feminist and change-maker in the gender equality space—she also loves using her experience from her corporate roles as a Commercial and Business Analyst and Management Accountant (ACMA, CGMA), where she weaves meaningful stories from financial, operational and online analytics. She has successfully released the Make Your Mark leadership notebook, working closely with designers and publishers. She is also an author of Get Your Life Back, an eBook on business automation and how she - and others - have used it to reclaim their time.
I founded Leaders in Heels with a simple goal in mind – to nurture, inspire and empower current and future female leaders.
It all started 4 years ago. I worked in the mining industry when I first moved to Australia, as a relatively inexperienced 28-year old seeking to develop her career. A female colleague told me that she was upset about being passed over for the vacant roles in our department. After talking to her further I discovered that she’d never told our boss she was interested in those roles—she’d expected that her hard work and talent would be recognised.
After a while, I noticed that such expectations were quite common for women in the workplace. It was a bit of a culture shock as in Poland, women have no hesitation in being forward and asking for what they want. I decided that I wanted to do something to empower these women, who might not realise why they are being overlooked in favour of their male colleagues. I also wanted to empower women who wanted to strike out on their own and make a difference.
In October 2011, Leaders in Heels was born! It's grown quickly and has over 60,000 views a month. We also hold branded events from time to time! On the back of this I've launched the Make Your Mark leadership notebook and an eBook on automation called Get Your Life Back.
